Mark Rigsby
Head Pastor
Marcus Anthony Rigsby was born on November 19, 1983. He is the second child of Wiley Jr. and Emma Rigsby. Marcus and his 3 siblings: Christopher, the eldest, Christina, and Wiley III grew up in a very close-knit Christian family environment. Often it was said that they were the real-life "Cosby" family. Marcus grew up in a home filled with gospel music, love, and laughs.
Marcus was baptized at the age of 8. He was later filled with the Holy Ghost at 12 at Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of then Elder now Suff. Bishop Allen Julian.
Marcus then began expressing his love for worship and music. He began playing the drums at church and eventually began playing the piano and organ. He was faithful to the music ministry at Apostolic Faith church for over 11 years.
God spoke to Marcus and placed him at Life Center Church of the Apostolic Faith under his father, the late Pastor Wiley Rigsby Jr. Life Center Church was a newly established church and God began to stretch Marcus out into new territory. Marcus became the minister of music and he also directed the praise team. Marcus soon became a deacon. He was devoted to opening and closing the church, cleaning, and was always willing to work in whatever capacity necessary.
Pastor Wiley Rigsby saw God’s hand on Marcus at an early age and recognized the call to ministry on his life. It was at Life Center Church where Pastor Wiley Rigsby began to use Marcus in a ministerial role. Marcus began to teach bible studies, witness through jail ministry, and eventually preach sermons. Marcus began taking ministerial classes and became a licensed minister in the gospel. Marcus has now been preaching and teaching the gospel for over 10 years.
At the age of 22, Marcus decided to take up barbering. He always had a talent with hair, but he wanted to take it to the next level. He graduated from Chic Cosmetology school in 2006. Marcus had dreams of owning his own barbershop. In 2011 Marcus began working at “The Barber Shop” owned by Lavon Steward, who is now one of his closest friends. God’s hand was still at work when he met Lavon. Marcus did not know Lavon was a keyboard player at his church nor did Lavon know the same about Marcus. The two began to create an atmosphere where lives were being changed and ministry was taking place within the barbershop walls. They became business partners and 4 years later, they purchased another barbershop. An abundance of sermons, bible studies, and witnessing opportunities have taken place in the barbershop, almost more than in the church or anywhere else. Marcus believes the barbershop was his first pulpit.
Pastor Marcus met Michelle Bluitt when he was twelve years old and she was ten years old. Growing up in the church together they never knew they would one day become husband and wife. Marcus would often tease Michelle about her last name Bluitt, not having a clue that one day he would be the one to change it. The two lost contact as the years passed, different colleges, changing churches, moving away all took place but somehow the two came together and something special sparked between them. At a critical part of Marcus’ life; when his grandmother Gladys Oliver became ill and went to be with the Lord, Michelle was there for him. It was at that point when Marcus knew Michelle was his helpmeet. On July 16th, 2011, the two became one. Since then, they have traveled to beautiful places in the world, experienced powerful moves of God together, survived tests, trials, and victories as one. They are always finding a new way to love and laugh harder with one another. On March 7th, 2017 they were blessed with a son, and decided to name him after his father, Marcus Anthony Rigsby Jr. but better known as "MJ." The couple is now expecting baby #2 due in October 2018.
